April was quite a time. A huge goal of the Anniversary Events was to reach as many people as possible, with a multi-pronged outreach plan.

Through the three readings and talkbacks, ongoing Art From Chornobyl showing, Twitter chats, collaboration with community organizations and the Awareness Team’s many reactions to Fukushima, we succeeded in our main goal. Even some unknowingly pulled into the project, such as our ASL interpreters and multiple in-kind supporters, have a closer connection to the word Chornobyl than they did before the events.

We also connected with many people around the world, commemorating and raising money in their own way. Ambientaria Records’ chilling Chernobyl compilation and Chernobyl Children’s Life Line all worked tirelessly as we to ensure that Chornobyl’s 25th Anniversary did not pass as merely a segment on This American Life.

Once more, thank you – all who donated, gave in-kind, paid attention, retweeted, shared, attended and gave us an incredibly supportive online conversation.

We certainly did unite and remember in April. On to creating an interactive piece to encourage students to explore and ask questions of their surrounding world!
